SEATTLE, Washington
- White Castle, like many fast food chains, is always on the hunt for new employees, and a Manhattan location was flying the banner below.
One of the benefits being touted is "a paycheck every week." Why would this be such a desirable benefit? Maybe, people working at other restaurants where the check comes every two weeks will think that they'll make double the money if they switch to working at White Castle.

still in NYC?? the Mission party is President's Day but they are turning out to be incredibly stingy with the drinks...
No, I'm in Seattle. But... I think I'm back in NYC Feb 18-22. JMR
Actually, given that that's a holiday, that probably pushes my travel back a whole week. I'll probably be here.
you lived in SC? interesting...i'm from there originally. now you HAVE to come to the Mission rip-off (I mean party)....
well, yes, I went to a certain university in SC, which should be obvious from the color scheme here.
ha! Clemson eh? I went to USC for undergrad (many years ago) and grad school (10 years ago) but never got into that rivalry stuff. No school spirit.
Actually, for the poor (who are likely to fill these jobs) a paycheck every week is pretty important. Waiting for a biweekly check can be pretty hard when you're struggling to pay the rent or buy groceries.
A little compassion, please.
Here's my experience with weekly paychecks:
I was working at a casino, we got paid weekly. We picked up the checks at the pay window on Sunday night.
A check-cashing van would park right outside the employee entrance. I and many others of us would immediately go to the van and cash our check (at 1% or 1.5% juice) so we could go play poker next door.
Very compassionate of that van to show up every Sunday.
